U.S. Ambassador to Beirut Michel Issa met with President Jospeh Aoun to discuss the general situation in light of recent developments. The meeting also reviewed the outcomes of Lebanese Army Commander General Rodolph Haykal’s visit to Washington and his discussions with U.S. officials within the framework of ongoing cooperation between the Lebanese and U.S. armies.
Preparations were also discussed for the upcoming conference to support the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces, scheduled to take place in Paris on March 5, in which the United States will participate. A preparatory meeting will precede the conference to coordinate positions, especially given that President Aoun’s attendance alongside French President Emmanuel Macron adds significant prominence to the event.
The discussions further addressed regional developments and the upcoming meeting scheduled to take place in Muscat.
