Egyptian Ambassador Alaa Moussa affirmed Egypt’s commitment, alongside the five permanent members, to ensuring the success of the upcoming conference in Paris on March 5 to support the Lebanese Army and Internal Security Forces.
After meeting with President Joseph Aoun, he said: “We discussed with the president the U.S.-Iran negotiations and hope they move toward success, given their potential impact on the region. Egypt is committed to supporting the negotiation process.”
He added: “We also spoke about the upcoming elections. We appreciate the stance of Lebanon’s leaders and their determination to hold the elections on schedule, and we support the state’s approach in this important process.”
He continued: “We reject any Israeli attacks on Lebanon and call for full implementation of the ceasefire agreement, the withdrawal of Israel from occupied positions, and the return of Lebanese prisoners. Meanwhile, the Lebanese state is performing its role well. This is a consistent Egyptian position that we reiterate in all our meetings.”
