Bukhari hosts iftar for Derian, emphasizes state rebuilding as Lebanon’s salvation
Saudi Ambassador Waleed Bukhari hosted an Iftar at his residence in Yarzeh for Lebanese Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdel Latif Derian, the regional muftis, and the head of Sunni Sharia courts. Discussions focused on Islamic affairs and the situation in Lebanon and the region.

According to the Dar Al-Fatwa media office, the leaders highlighted the strong, brotherly relations, ongoing cooperation, and mutual trust with Saudi Arabia, which remains committed to Lebanon’s stability and security.

Dar Al-Fatwa, its scholars, and institutions reaffirmed their support for Saudi Arabia’s vision and emphasized their dedication to Lebanon, reflecting values of moderation and Arab unity.

They underlined that rebuilding the state is primarily Lebanon’s responsibility, as neither the Arab nor the international community can replace a sovereign government. Key steps include holding parliamentary elections on schedule, ensuring the proper functioning of institutions, completing necessary reforms, and centralizing arms under the Lebanese army to restore state authority.

The meeting also welcomed diplomatic efforts by the Lebanese government, supported by the Quintet Committee, to facilitate political solutions that promote stability and national recovery. Ambassador Bukhari expressed optimism about Lebanon’s future under transparency and the rule of law, anticipating relief from past crises, and praised Dar Al-Fatwa’s unifying role in addressing the country’s challenges.

As a gesture of respect and appreciation, Ambassador Bukhari presented Grand Mufti Derian with a model of the Prophet’s Chamber.
