The media office of Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri issued a statement clarifying remarks published in local newspapers regarding the possible postponement of parliamentary elections.

According to the statement, Berri explained that in comments to Asharq Al-Awsat he had referred to what he described as an atmosphere within the Quintet group favoring a delay of the elections. He stressed, however, that he did not mention any specific ambassador, whether from the Quintet or otherwise, in his remarks.

The statement concluded by saying that the clarification was necessary to correct any misinterpretation of his comments.
