President of the Republic Joseph Aoun received a phone call from Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who affirmed the Holy See’s support for Lebanon during these difficult days and its readiness to help alleviate the suffering of the Lebanese people.
Aoun thanked Pope Leo XIV for his positions toward Lebanon and the Lebanese.
In turn, Spain’s chargé d’affaires in Lebanon, José Luis González García, informed President Aoun of his country’s support for the Lebanese government’s decisions regarding the exclusivity of arms in the hands of the state.
The Spanish diplomat reiterated Spain’s condemnation of Israeli attacks against Lebanon, as well as Hezbollah’s actions, stressing Spain’s support for Lebanon at this delicate stage.
For his part, Italian Ambassador, Fabrizio Marcelli, confirmed to President Aoun that Italy stands by Lebanon under the current circumstances, supporting the Lebanese government’s recent position and working to halt Israeli attacks as soon as possible.
President Aoun also received Russian Ambassador, Alexander Rudakov, who conveyed Moscow’s support for the Lebanese government’s recent sovereign decisions, in line with Russia’s position backing Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and unity, based on principles of non-interference and resolving internal disputes through comprehensive national dialogue involving all political parties.
