The Secretary of Fatwa in the Lebanese Republic, Sheikh Amin Al-Kurdi, called for “greater solidarity among the Lebanese and for closing all doors to strife,” saying: “We must not allow discord to infiltrate among the Lebanese, and we must return to the state project.”
Al-Kurdi added in his Eid al-Fitr sermon: “We must look at the displaced regardless of political differences; they are our guests and part of our country, and the state must assume its responsibility.”
He continued: “The Lebanese do not want to be part of any axis. We want to live in a country free from all external alignments, and we will not allow anyone to take us back to a state of internal fighting among the Lebanese.”
Al-Kurdi also called for “the need to resolve the issue of Islamist detainees,” adding: “Lift the injustice, let us close this file, and let those in decision-making positions take their decision.”
