Airport Closure Rumors Denied by Ministry of Public Works
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport issued the following clarification statement:

“In response to the recent increase in misleading news circulated by some media outlets and social media platforms, which include claims of the airport being closed, flight suspensions, or Lebanese airspace being under direct threat, the Ministry of Public Works and Transport confirms that Rafic Hariri International Airport – Beirut is operating normally. There is no decision to close it or suspend air traffic, and flights have not been canceled as has been falsely reported.

According to official data from the General Civil Aviation Authority, no new flight cancellations have been recorded. Twelve flights were registered as of 8:00 am, confirming the continuation of normal operations. Lebanese airspace is not closed, and claims that Beirut airport’s airspace is being used for non-civilian purposes are entirely false.

Regarding the decrease in the number of flights, this falls within the general global context affecting various airports in the region and does not represent an exceptional situation specific to Lebanon.

The Ministry of Public Works and Transport, in close coordination with the General Civil Aviation Authority and the relevant security agencies at Rafic Hariri International Airport, is monitoring operations to maintain the airport as a vital link connecting Lebanon to the world and ensuring communication between residents and the Lebanese diaspora. The Ministry warns against spreading inaccurate or misleading news due to its negative consequences and calls on media outlets and citizens to exercise the highest level of responsibility, ensure accuracy, and obtain information exclusively from official and authorized sources.”
