Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny is pressing ahead with efforts to rehabilitate and operationalize Rene Mouawad Airport in Qlayaat, placing the project at the forefront of national priorities despite ongoing challenges and difficult conditions in Lebanon.
In a statement, the ministry said it has initiated practical steps to fast-track implementation, including launching a public procurement tender in line with established legal procedures to ensure transparency and competitiveness.
The process has drawn notable interest, with 18 entities obtaining tender documents and expressing intent to participate, reflecting growing confidence in the project’s national and economic value.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to advancing the project swiftly in the public interest, with further updates to be announced in due course.
