Lebanese President Joseph Aoun received a phone call from British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who offered condolences for the victims of Israeli attacks on Lebanon and expressed solidarity with the Lebanese people during this difficult period.
Starmer said the United Kingdom is willing to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to help alleviate the suffering of displaced Lebanese civilians, and to cooperate with Lebanese official humanitarian bodies in this regard.
He also reaffirmed Britain’s support for the Lebanese Army under the existing cooperation framework between the two countries, and welcomed the ceasefire announced yesterday, praising President Aoun’s efforts in achieving it.
President Aoun thanked Starmer for his positions, stressing that British support for Lebanon, and particularly for its army, has a strong impact on the Lebanese people and reflects the deep friendship between the two countries. He added that Lebanon is entering a new phase and an opportunity to consolidate security, stability, and the extension of state authority over all its territory.
