Lebanese President Joseph Aoun met Prime Minister Nawaf Salam at Baabda Palace to discuss recent security and diplomatic developments.
The two leaders also reviewed the post-ceasefire phase and ongoing efforts to consolidate the truce, including contacts held by Aoun with U.S. President Donald Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and several Arab and foreign leaders.
Following the meeting, Salam said talks also covered Lebanon’s preparedness for upcoming negotiations, as well as implementation of Cabinet decisions, particularly a recent measure aimed at strengthening state authority across Beirut and restricting weapons possession there to the state.
Salam expressed hope that displaced residents would soon be able to return safely to their homes once the ceasefire holds, adding that the Lebanese state would support their return by repairing damaged bridges, reopening roads, and providing essential services in areas deemed safe and accessible.
