Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met Free Patriotic Movement leader, MP Gebran Bassil, in Ain El-Tineh, in the presence of Berri’s political aide, MP Ali Hassan Khalil, to review developments amid continued Israeli ceasefire violations and attacks on the south, alongside internal political conditions.
After the meeting, Bassil said discussions focused on a proposal to protect Lebanon, warning that the country faces not only an Israeli war but also systematic destruction and displacement in the south. He said the situation poses a major challenge beyond a transient conflict.
Bassil stressed the growing risk of internal instability, urging stronger unity to prevent internal strife, which he said would be more dangerous than external war. He called for broader national consultations to reinforce cohesion and safeguard Lebanon.
