Fadel Chaker Case Moves Forward Following Military Hearing
The media office of Fadel Chaker issued a statement saying that the Military Court has continued its hearings in his case, during which three former security officers who previously served in the Sidon area testified before the court.

According to the statement, the officers; Brigadier General Ali Shahrour, former head of the Southern Intelligence Office; Brigadier General Mohammad Al-Husseini, former director of the office of former army commander Jean Kahwaji; and Brigadier General Mamdouh Saab, former head of the Sidon security office, all confirmed, based on their security records, investigations, and reports conducted before and after the Abra clashes, that Fadl Shaker was not present at the battle and had no involvement in it.

One of the witnesses also reportedly stated that Shaker had been hiding under a staircase inside the Al-Mustaqbal building during the clashes between the Lebanese Army and armed groups.

The statement further said that, pending medical reports on Fadl Shaker’s health condition, the Military Court has appointed a medical committee at the request of his lawyer, who also asked to hear additional witnesses in the case.

It added that while the court has already heard witnesses it had summoned itself, the defense continues to request additional testimony in order to further clarify the circumstances of the case.

The statement concluded that, in light of all testimonies, evidence, and documents currently on file, the final decision now rests with the Military Court, which will issue its ruling based on the facts and evidence presented before it.
