Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Tuesday welcomed at his Ain El-Tineh residence Hamas representative in Lebanon, Dr. Ahmad Abdel-Hadi, who visited him with an accompanying delegation.

The delegation handed Berri a letter from the movement’s political bureau chief, Ismail Haniyeh.

The meeting had been an opportunity to discuss the challenges facing the Palestinian cause due to the “deal of the century” and the annexation of parts of the West Bank and Jordan Valley. Talks also touched on the Lebanese-Palestinian ties and the condition of Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon.

“His Excellency has expressed support for the Palestinian stance against the deal of the century in general, and the annexation project,” Abdel Hadi said on emerging.

As for the status of Palestinians in Lebanon, Abdel Hadi assured Berri that the Palestinian people would never be a factor of instability in the country, nor would they ever breach its security.

Separately, Speaker Berri met with head of the Banking Control Commission in Lebanon, Maya Dabbagh, and members of the committee.

Among Berri’s other visitors have been former ministers, Ghazi Al-Aridi and Wael Abu Faour, who discussed with his excellency the country’s general situation and the latest political developments.
