Caretaker Prime Minister, Hassan Diab, on Monday received a delegation of the Trade Union Coordination Committee in secondary and basic education, which included Nazih Jebbawi, Hussein Jawad, George Nasr, Nawal Nasr, and Issam Azzam.

After the meeting, Jebbawi said, "In our capacity as representatives of the Trade Union Coordination Committee, which represents the educational and administrative sectors, we deliberated with H.E on the items to which we had objected in relation to acquired rights, especially Articles 105, 106, 107 and some other articles related to the retirement system and insurance funds, as well as consolidation modalities. Premier Diab understands our concerns regarding the necessity of not adopting any articles that undermine our acquired rights. The present government is not about to meet to approve the budget, and in case this happens, these items, as currently drafted, will not pass. We have presented the articles to which we had objected in detail. In all cases, and assuming the government convenes to discuss and approve the budget, meetings will certainly take place with us to agree on the formula, for it is not possible to revoke historical acquired rights with a stroke of a pen. We fully trust H.E the Prime Minister and hope that our demands will be met."
