Al-Ansar reaps remarkable victory over Al-Nejmeh in Lebanese Football Championship after waiting for 14 years

Al-Ansar waited 14 years to win its 14th title in the General Lebanese Football Championship League, and consolidate its record, by beating its traditional rival Al-Nejmeh 2-1 (first half 1-1), in a joint match that took place on Saturday afternoon at the Fouad Chehab Sports Complex in Jounieh, at the end of the last fifth round of the 61st General League.

Al-Ansar deserved its victory, knowing that a draw was enough for them to be crowned, whereby its players were able to absorb the strong entry of their rivals in the match.

Thus, the General League came to an end within an exceptional season in which foreign players were missed due to the economic crisis that hit the country, after the cancellation of last season due to the repercussions of the unprecedented protests of October 17, 2019, and the outbreak of the Covid pandemic.
