Pharaon to offer a just representation to all political factions

A meeting was held at Deputy Michel Pharaon's residence at which attendees confirmed the need to have elections on schedule according to a law that takes into consideration the Christians concerns and provides fair representation.
Deputy Serge Torsarkissian, Patriarch André Haddad, Orthodox League head Nicolas Gholam, Orthodox Gathering Secretary General Nicolas Saba and Christian dignitaries from various countries attended the meeting to discuss the various proposed electoral formulas and proposals, mainly the project proposed by Deputies Pharaon and Torsarkissian, Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri's initiative, Minister Fouad Boutros committee project, the Orthodox Gathering plan, the fifty electoral district law, the hybrid (majority and proportionality) law and all the other formulas under discussion.
Pharaon said that the Orthodox plan provides balance nevertheless it includes many negative points; pointing out that his project combines the positive points in the Orthodox plan, sect representation, and the national and regional representation.
He said that this project satisfies the needs of the current stage and provides fair representation, considering that it deserves to be put to discussion , especially that it neither provides predictable results for the elections nor in advance success of any political party.
The MP stressed on preserving the characteristics of each region, from Achrafieh to Jezzine. He also pinned giving attention to the Christians of different political parties and respecting their privacy through calculated steps, such as separating Baalbeck from Hermel and transferring the Maronite seat from Tripoli to another district.
Separately, attendees stressed the need to protect the Lebanese Army through a political cover from various parties via a neutral cabinet that enjoys wide support to treat the repercussions of the Syrian crisis on Lebanon.
The attendees also called for unveiling the circumstances of Arsal incidents.
Moreover, they warned of the "growth of the extremism phenomena and spread of arms among civilians", stressing that the only security authority over the Lebanese territories should be the official security forces without any discrimination between one geographic region and another.
They also called for the need to hasten the endorsement of the decentralization administration, activate the social-economic council and bolster the state's credibility.
