Annahar newspaper reported that the United Nations Security Council member states have all reached an agreement on maintaing Lebanon's stability, therefore intending to take pragmatic steps to protect the country.
A western diplomat told An Nahar brushed aside the possibility of issuing a resolution, noting however that the measures may include clearer support for Lebanon's disassociation policy.
A diplomat at the Security Council told the Lebanese daily that the organization's 15 member states are seeking to hold an international conference on Lebanon on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in September.
