The Higher Islamic Council held its regular meeting at the Dar al-Fatwa and was chaired by the Grand Mufti Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani.

The Grand Mufti praised the achievements of military and security apparatuses in its effort to ward off terrorist attacks seeking to incite sectarian strife.

The council warned against the repercussions following the amendment of the Taef agreement, reiterating its adherence to the accord as a binding constitutional text, hence any amendment is to come in the right circumstances so as to deflect any rift among the Lebanese.
