Fearful Berri Warns against Regional Inferno

Speaker Nabih Berri made a grave statement warning against the next phase facing Lebanon and the potential incidents related to speedy regional developments.

Berri warned against the regional flames lurking at the borders, calling on all factions to take up their responsibilities and rush to the rescue of the country.

"The flames don't only threaten Lebanon but the entire region except for Morocco," he said, assuring that Lebanon is facing great challenges in its attempt to ward off imminent dangers at its borders.

In remarks published in Annahar newspaper Wednesday, Berri noted that all factions must be aware and ready to put out the flames, warning against a delay reaching up to September.

“What September? It is a matter of day or we are headed towards the worst,” he said, voicing concern over the upcoming end of parliamentary term and rejecting any potential extension.

Speaker Berri called for the election of a new president and the reinforcement of state institutions, noting that his talks with al-Mustaqbal movement are progressing and will lead, if successful, to the rebirth of legislative sessions within the parliament.
