Intelligence information revealed that a Takfiri militant group has been executing field drills in northern Lebanon to prepare for their planned attack on a village. According to the concocted plot, the militants plan on kidnapping a group of civilians so as to negotiate their return in exchange for the release of Islamic detainees in Roumieh prison.
Trusted politicians assured that a major European country transmitted intelligence information to the Lebanese security apparatuses around 10 days ago regarding over 100 Takfiris' field trainings in the northern town of Wadi Jouhannam.
Information featured in al-Akhbar newspaper Thursday added that while the piece of security data was on its way to Beirut, northerners residing close to said training area reported nearby gunshots for several days.
It is worth mentioning that, according to the knowledgeable politicians, some official authorities are handling the situation lightly. Security Forces patrols had failed to head to the zone until the news became public and returned empty handed.
However, the Army Command has been conducting patrols and combing the area by land and by air over the last few days in anticipation of potential incidents.
Furthermore, the politicians revealed that measures were taken in several areas that could be deemed as potential targets of the said terrorist attacks amid a strong political cooperation.
There is no need to panic, the sources assured. The official and national abilities are far bigger than any terrorist threat. But vigilance remains crucial so as to avert such threats.
