The Inglorious Past of the 'Three-Breasted Woman'

The story of Jasmine Tridevil had recently went viral online following her claims that she has had a third breast surgically attached to her chest for $20,000 in hopes that she will host a show on MTV.

Tridevil, whose real name is Alisha Hessler, had first stepped into the spotlight in December 2013 after making a man who allegedly assaulted her hold a sign at an intersection with the words "I beat women, honk if I'm a scumbag."

According to Hessler, a Tampa native, 50 doctors turned her away because the procedure was deemed as an ethical violation. Eventually, she found one who would go through with the surgery after making her sign a non-disclosure agreement.

"I believe 100% that this is a hoax that everyone is falling for," Matthew Shulman, a board-certified plastic surgeon in New York City, told The Daily Dot. Schulman went on to say that the surgery, while theoretically possible, would take months - more than six - and would likely result in the three breasts being connected, which is not the case in Hessler's photographs.
