ISIS Chocolate Sweep European Markets

Despite being drowned in battles in Syria and Iraq the Islamic State’s name seemed to witness an uptick in popularity out of the blue across the European continent as Belgian ISIS chocolate swept the markets.

ISIS, of course, is the acronym derived from Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. The group changed the name to just Islamic State in June, but the chocolate maker was suffering by association.

We had chosen ISIS to be the company’s brand name, the marketing head said, pointing out that the emergence of the terror organization was unexpected.

"Had we known there was a terrorist organization with the same name, we would have never chosen that. We had international customers saying that they could no longer stock our chocolate as consumers had only negative associations with the name," Libeert said.

The company has now changed its name to "Libeert", the family name of the company's owners.
