After being done with the political part of our exclusive interview with Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, it was alluring for us to get an insight into the veteran politician's personal life. Peering into Geagea's other side was a must.
"Never," he said when asked if he would have preferred to live the normal life of a married man with children away from politics.
Geagea said he did not think about changing any of the decisions he had made in his life even when he was incarcerated.
"On the contrary, during that period I was the most tenacious of my principles and choices," he stressed.
"I can't imagine having completed my final year of university, becoming a physician who goes to his clinic in the morning and returns home at night before going out to dinner with his wife like everyone else."
Geagea added that such a lifestyle has never appealed to him, stressing that he is completely convinced of the person he is and what he does.
We were impelled to ask the LF leader how he spends his weekends and free time- not that he has much- and his answer was "reading."
He told MTV website that he reads vigorously and takes advantage of this hobby to compensate for his inability to seek other sources of cultural enrichment because he cannot leave his residence due to security reasons.
Geagea also said that he watches television and pointed out a documentary that he has recently seen about the October 1973 liberation war.
However, what might come as a surprise is that the political leader follows-up closely on all the singers' newest releases. He is able to name them along with their songs, and even to identify the names of the lyrics' writers and music composers.
He gave his opinion on some music video directors, advising Carol Samaha to work with a local director, rather than the French one that she is currently cooperating with, "to help her add a Lebanese touch to her work."
As for his fascination with alluring performers such as Haifa Wehbe and Maya Diab, Geagea said that "there is no problem with an artist being beautiful and sexy if she has good vocals; however, I am not interested in pretty singers who do not have a nice voice or performance."
