An Israeli raid on the southern town of Qoneitra resulted in the death of several Hezbollah officials, including Jihad Moughniyeh, son of late leader Imad Moughniyeh, in addition to a prominent official known as Abu Issa.

Six Iranian officers were also killed by the raid that was said to have targeted a terrorist gathering.

Hezbollah immediately confirmed the news of the martyrdom of several of its fighters, failing however to mention their identities, saying that it would later release a statement in this regard.
