Kremlin spokesman said Monday that Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan wrote to Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing regret for downing of Russian jet.

The spokesman also noted that Erdogan said he would do everything possible to restore Russian-Turkish relations, adding that ‘Turkey is ready to react together with Russia to crisis in the region and fight terrorism’.

“I am sorry,” Erdogan reportedly said in his letter, expressing regret and deep condolences over the jet downing incident, noting that it was never in Turkey’s intention to down the plane.
