"We are unwaveringly adamant to prevent terrorism from achieving its goals and objectives," President of the Republic, Michel Aoun, stressed on Tuesday in a cable to US President, Donald Trump, on the commemoration of the September 11 attacks. 

President Aoun said that the Lebanese Army's recent liberation of Lebanese lands from Daesh terrorist organization confirms such a determination. 

"Today, we all stand united against terrorism and we call for solidarity to uproot it [terrorism] from its roots," Aoun said in his cable. 

On the other hand, Aoun held a series of meetings at Baabda palace over a range of issues majorly related to diplomacy, women affairs and sports. 

At the diplomatic level, Aoun met with former French Foreign Minister, Herve de Charette, accompanied by French Ambassador to Lebanon, Bruno Fuchia, where they held a tour d'horizon on the general situation in Lebanon and the region and Lebanon.

Talks also reportedly touched on Lebanese-French ties, in light of the upcoming state visit by President Aoun to France on September 25. 

The President then met with the executive office of the Lebanese National Commission for Lebanese Women, led by Claudine Aoun Roukoz, with talks reportedly touching on matters related to the work of the Commission in light of attaining women's rights in the various fields, especially in the national sphere. 

Aoun called on the Lebanese women to "participate in the political life, parliamentary elections and national decision-making." 

At the sports level, Aoun met with a delegation of the Beirut Marathon Association, headed by May Khalil, who briefed him on the Association's marathon upcoming Sunday, November 12, 2017, in the capital Beirut. 

The President also met with David Frem who manufactured the sports car named "Frem Beirut Edition".

On the other hand, Aoun cabled his Egyptian counterpart, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, to offer his condolences after the bombing incident that targeted an Egyptian police convoy in northern Sinai, which claimed the innocent lives of several people.
