The Russian Embassy in Lebanon issued a statement on Monday calling on Russian nationals residing in Lebanon to take part in the forthcoming presidential elections set to take place on March 18, 2018.
"March 18, 2018 is defined as the date for the election of the President of the Russian Federation. As a result of the registration procedure, 8 candidates will participate in the elected company, including the incumbent Russian President Vladimir Putin. All applicants represent the widest range of political forces in modern Russia. The Russian Federation has accumulated a rich sovereign experience in organizing and holding elections at various levels. It refers to the best electoral practices of the 21st century, representing an effective implementation of the constitutional rights of Russian citizens and full compliance with international standards," a statement by the Russian embassy read.
"The organization of voting in the foreign countries for Russian citizens is an important integral part of the large and complex work carried out by the national authorities during the preparation and conduct of the election of the President of the Russian Federation. The central coordinating role in this process is played by the Central Election Commission of Russian Federation (The CEC). Russian citizens who abide in Lebanon are invited to participate in the voting on the Russian presidential elections on March 18 starting from 08.00 till 20.00 in the quarters of the Russian Center for Science and Culture at the address: Beirut, Verdun Street," the statement concluded.
