"We will not allow the forgery of results and the failure of Joumana," is a slogan raised by a number of supporters to candidate Joumana Haddad, who gathered on Monday in front of the Interior Ministry to protest against alleged falsification of voters' turnout to fail Haddad.
Addressing the gathering crowd, Haddad pointed to further pressuring democratic steps to be adopted, in coordination with the civil society, to contest the election results.
"Our attorneys will proceed with completing all documentation and data to file a law suit challenging the outcome of this electoral process," she added.
Haddad seized the opportunity to express a word of appreciation to her electoral list members and all supporters for casting their votes in her favor, while congratulating her colleague, Paulette Yacoubian, for winning in the elections.
In turn, Yacoubian, who took part in the protest, pointed to a "strange conspiracy" by the authority and all its parties in the issue of Haddad's failure in the elections.
Yacoubian called for re-counting of votes, noting that there are several violations that occurred in all Lebanese regions, and stressing that "the Lebanese people ought to struggle, and to believe in their vote and right."
