Strong Lebanon MP, Assaad Dergham, criticized in a statement on Monday the decision of Caretaker Health Minister Ghassan Hasbani to cut hospitalization funds for citizens who are not covered by the National Social Security Fund, noting that it was an illegal decision that annulled a decree.

The MP questioned the standards adopted by Minister Hasbani and the position of Akkar deputies who belong to the same political party as the minister's.

Dergam, who deplored the situation of the citizens of Akkar in health coverage, said that the Minister of Health should instead develop a strategy to improve the conditions of hospitals and fight corruption, instead of depriving the poor of Akkar region the much needed health benefits.
