Outgoing Interior Minister Nohad Machnouk discussed on Thursday the Israeli escalation in the region and the Palestinian affairs in Lebanon with Fateh Central Committee member, Azzam el-Ahmad, accompanied by the ambassador of Palestine to Lebanon, Ashraf Dabbour.
Talks focused on the internal situation in the Palestinian camps, Ahmad said, considering that there are hostile forces that want to exploit the camps to strike at the unity and stability of Lebanon.
He welcomed the cooperation between the Palestinian and Lebanese authorities, especially with the Ministry of Interior to prevent the explosion of Palestinian camps, and called for strengthening Arab action at the Beirut Economic Summit and protecting Arab national security.
In response to a question about the level of Palestinian representation at the Beirut Economic Summit, he said "Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was to be present, and the delegation was formed under his chairmanship, but Palestine will be appointed today to head the Group of 77 and China, which includes 134 countries. That is why Prime Minister Rami Al-Hamdallah will lead the Palestinian delegation to the Beirut Summit."
On another level, Machnouk met with Armenia's ambassador to Lebanon, Vahagn Atabekian.
