The Italian Ambassador Massimo Marotti congratulated Ms Karma Ekmekji, diplomatic advisor of H.E. the President of the Council of Ministers, for joining the Network of Mediterranean Women Mediators (MWMN).
The Network was launched in Rome on October 26th, 2017. A multigenerational group of approximately 40 women mediators and experts from the shores of the Mediterranean Sea came together and agreed on the adoption of the "Founding Principles and Declaration of Intent" of the network.
The Mediterranean Women Mediators Network is a catalyst for mediation efforts in ongoing and potential crises and post-conflict stabilization and processes.
The Network operates in close cooperation with the UN and the UN Department for Political Affairs, which manages a roster of mediation experts, and with civil society.
Ambassador Marotti stressed that Ms Ekmekji will be a valuable asset for the group of capable international mediators from the extended Mediterranean region. MWMN enjoys now a new balanced and thoughtful Lebanese mediator able to understand the complex dimension of conflicts and to work to advance comprehensive and constructive solutions for dialogue in post conflict situations. Marotti wishes her success in this important endeavor.
