Health Minister Jamil Jabbak delivered Lebanon's speech at the World Health Organization's 72nd World Assembly meeting in Geneva, focusing on the simmering Syrian refugee issue and its repercussions on the health system in Lebanon. 

In his word to WHO, the Minister echoed Lebanon's serious concerns about its inability to continue to ensure refugee access to health services due to the significant lack of funding from the international community. 

Moreover, he appealed to donors "to increase their support for Lebanon to meet these challenges because responsibility for displacement is not only that of host countries, but that of the international community as well." 

"The huge burden on Lebanon is due to the large number of refugees all across its territories; they constitute about one-third of Lebanon's population and create huge health and environmental burdens due to their unregulated presence and difficult living conditions," the Minister said.

The Minister finally stressed that Syrian refugees should be assisted to accelerate their safe and dignified return to the stable areas of their country and provided with the necessary support for their reintegration into their country.
