Peruvian authorities have announced that hundreds of firefighters are still fighting a massive fire that broke out late Monday in the historic center of Lima, the capital, and spread to several commercial buildings, without any injuries reported.
Carlos Malpica, a fire department official, told local television channel that the fire started in a warehouse containing toys and food before spreading to other buildings. He added that "the fire may continue until Sunday."
Columns of thick black smoke could be seen rising from the site of the fire from several kilometers away.
