Ancient Greek ruins found underwater in Tyre

The ruins of eleven ships belonging to the Greek era (circa 300 BC) have been found lying 300 meters underwater southern the city of Tyre, Head of the Lebanese Union of Professional Divers, Mohammad al-Siraj, indicated in a statement Tuesday.


According to al-Siraj, the discovered ships belonged to the Macedonian Army; they sank during the Siege of Tyre orchestrated by Alexander the Great in 322 BC.
