Father Elie Najjar (of the Antonine Maronite Order), president of the municipality of Mar Chaaya-Mzakkeh Broumana, was found dead in his room at the monastery on Wednesday, with a visible gun wound to his head.
Security services rushed to the scene and opened an investigation into the incident.
