President Joseph Aoun stated, on the 43rd anniversary of President Bachir Gemayel’s assassination, that the killing was more than the loss of a leader, it was an attempt to silence a national dream.

“Dreams don’t die with their dreamers,” Aoun said, praising Gemayel as a symbol of determination and a visionary for a strong, sovereign, and united Lebanon.  

He added that the principles Gemayel stood for remain foundational to the Lebanese identity, including freedom, independence, and national unity.
