Washington: Lebanon Missed Its Chance, US Prepares for Worst
Senior US diplomatic sources told Arab media that Lebanon has missed the opportunity for a solution, and "we fear the worst."

The sources explained that "efforts to rescue Lebanon from collapse through economic and political incentives have hit a dead end, after the rescue plan had included billions of dollars from Gulf countries and arrangements inspired by the Abraham Accords," considering that "key parties in Beirut preferred to maintain the status quo, whose performance keeps Lebanon trapped in paralysis and dependency." They added: "The moment of change created by President Trump has passed."

The sources indicate that "with this opportunity lost, the normal diplomatic rhythm will return, as Lebanon has become the only state to host a foreign terrorist organization as a central part of its leadership," adding: "Our hearts hope for the best for Lebanon, and our minds prepare for the worst."
