MTV has learned that MPs and figures from the Sovereign Front for Lebanon will hold a meeting this week to discuss ways to stop Hezbollah’s Secretary-General, Sheikh Naim Qassem, from continuing his provocative behavior and speeches, which violate general rules and are considered by some as revolutionary and in blatant disregard of the Lebanese Constitution and laws.
It is understood that the MPs and figures who previously filed a criminal complaint against Qassem will participate in the meeting to decide on appropriate measures regarding the positions of Hezbollah leaders, primarily Naim Qassem.
One of the signatories of the complaint believes that allowing Qassem to continue escalating against the state without accountability will cause further harm and exacerbate dangers. It is noted that MPs Ashraf Rifi, Elias Khoury, Georges Okais, Camille Chamoun, former MP Eddy Abi Lamaa, and lawyer Elie Mahfoud previously filed a criminal complaint against Sheikh Naim Qassem before the Public Prosecution on August 27, 2025. However, according to available information, the complaint remains in the judicial archives without any action or decision taken.
Will the meeting participants resort to filing a new complaint?
On this question, one participant said, “We will take confirmed measures after the meeting. Silence over this deviant behavior is no longer acceptable.” He added: “This has gone beyond merely breaking the law; it now poses a threat to Lebanon’s internal peace, especially after the armed group’s leaders began threatening and escalating talk of civil war.”
He also stated: “At the very least, we should move toward signing a parliamentary and political petition demanding that the government take the necessary steps to stop the militia and its leaders from escalating further.”
