German President to visit Beirut
German Federal President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, is set to arrive in Beirut on Sunday night for a three-day official visit, during which he will meet President Joseph Aoun, Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, and other Lebanese officials.

Steinmeier, accompanied by his wife Elke Büdenbender and a diplomatic delegation, will also visit the German naval contingent serving within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), as well as Beirut Port, the National Museum, and the Jounieh Naval Academy.

Talks with President Aoun are scheduled for Monday, followed by a joint press conference at Baabda Palace.

The German presidency described the visit—Steinmeier’s second to Lebanon after 2018—as focused on supporting Lebanon’s path toward stability and economic recovery, particularly in light of the aftermath of the 2020 Beirut port explosion.

The visit will also highlight Germany’s continued security commitment to Lebanon and its support for national reconciliation and social cohesion.
