During the commemoration of the assassination of his late father, President Rafik Hariri, at Martyrs’ Square in Beirut, former Prime Minister Saad Hariri addressed his supporters with a series of messages emphasizing loyalty, national vision, and the principles of the Future Movement.
Hariri told his supporters, “We stand with the truth, and the majority is on our side. Every year, you honor the path of the late President Rafic Hariri, showing that leadership is not hesitation but courage, and that patience reflects faith in our national principles.”
He added, “The Future Movement does not see politics as a pursuit of positions or as flattery, but as loyalty and defending the country’s interests and the rights of the people.”
Addressing his supporters personally, Hariri said, “I am a strong support for you because you are my pride, my family, and my people.”
He also challenged claims about the movement’s decline, stating, “To anyone who tries to convince you that Rafic Hariri’s school has closed its doors, or that the Future Movement is finished, tell them, ‘Our history has a future.’”
On the resilience of his political vision, Hariri affirmed, “Hariri’s nationalism may take a step back and rest like a warrior, but it never breaks. Those who bet on breaking it have themselves been broken. We do not break, because Rafik Hariri’s vision is a belief that Lebanon will endure no matter the falls.”
He further emphasized integrity in politics, saying, “We don’t sell or buy our positions, and we don’t chase offices for personal gain. The Lebanese people deserve a normal country with a constitution, an army, and one authority over weapons.”
Hariri also addressed national stability, declaring, “We will not allow any internal strife. The Taif Agreement is the solution, and it must be fully implemented by keeping all weapons under the state’s control and ending sectarianism.”
On foreign relations, he noted, “Do not get tangled in the Gulf disputes. We aim to have strong and positive relations with all Arab countries, beginning with a new chapter in Syria.”
Regarding the Future Movement’s participation in parliamentary elections, Hariri assured his supporters, “Tell me when the elections will be, and I’ll tell you exactly what the Future Movement intends to do. I promise that whenever the elections take place, our voices will be heard loud and clear, and every vote will be counted.”
