Trump and Iran at Odds, with Lebanon Emerging as a Key File
US President Donald Trump announced that he will hold a meeting to take the final decision on the expected agreement with Iran, stressing that Tehran must agree to never possess a weapon or a nuclear bomb.

He added that the Strait of Hormuz must be opened immediately to maritime navigation in both directions and without any transit fees, noting the need to remove all remaining sea mines, if any exist.

He explained that the naval blockade imposed by the United States on the strait will be lifted, allowing stranded ships to resume movement.

Regarding enriched nuclear materials buried underground, Trump said the United States will extract them in coordination with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency, in preparation for their destruction, adding that this step is part of an understanding reached between the concerned parties.

He confirmed that "no money will be exchanged until further notice", noting that there are other provisions in the agreement which he described as far less significant.

On the other hand, Iranian sources, via Fars News Agency, denied Trump’s statements, saying that "the agreement with the United States is in its final ratification stages in Iran and no final decision has been made yet".

They described Trump’s remarks about a possible agreement as "a mixture of accurate and inaccurate claims", adding that his statements are an attempt to portray a false victory.

Informed sources confirmed that there is no provision related to the destruction of Iran’s nuclear materials in the memorandum of understanding, and that this "claim is entirely unfounded".

As for Lebanon, they indicated that "the memorandum of understanding includes a complete ceasefire in Lebanon in line with the position of Hezbollah".
