Salam Vows to Step Up Oversight Following Foiled Cocaine Smuggling Attempt
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam congratulated the General Directorate of General Security and Lebanese Customs on their successful foiling of an attempt to smuggle 47 kilograms of cocaine through Rafic Hariri International Airport. He praised the coordination, cooperation and information-sharing between the two agencies, which led to the successful operation.

Salam stressed that Lebanon’s land, sea and air crossings would not be allowed to serve as routes for drug smuggling, money laundering or any other illegal activities. He affirmed that the government would continue to strengthen oversight of border crossings, enhance coordination among the relevant agencies, and combat smuggling networks and organized crime.
