The People's Committees and a number of Tripoli residents on Tuesday staged a sit-in at Al-Nour Square in protest against the skyrocketing monthly subscription fees of private electric generators, as well as against the rapidly deteriorating living, economic, and social conditions. 

The protesters stressed that families were no longer able to bear this situation. 

“Today’s sit-in today is a cry against state officials, merchants, the corrupt, and monopolists,” they said, avowing escalatory measures in the event that officials do not swiftly attend to this dangerous situation.
