The 11 days ongoing crisis in Turkey could not be similar to what is happening with its neighboring enemy Syria however it seems now certain that it took an escalating trend prevailing darkness on the major cities especially Istanbul and Ankara.
In fact, riot police retook Taksim Square by firing tear gas at demonstrators.
The policemen equipped with water cannons forced through barricades in Taksim Square without moving towards Gezi Park, where scores had been camping.
Huseyin Avni Mutlu, the governor for Istanbul, said that the police operation was to dismount the banners hung on the square. He called protestors to “stay away from what some members could do as provocation”.
However, groups of protesters next to the Square, threw stones and petrol bombs at the police that fired water cannon against them.
