Kataeb warns against end of Constitutional Council’s term; urges relevant officials to take action

Kataeb Party hailed the resumption of holding cabinet sessions after being suspended for few days, hoping that officials would be nudged to assume their responsibilities and elect a new head of state.

 

"Electing a new president revives the work of state's institutions including the parliament," the party said in a statement.

 

Following its politburo weekly meeting presided by President Amine Gemayel, the party urged relevant authorities to be aware of the Constitutional Council whose term ends on June 5, hoping that they would not sound the alarm would not be resolved at the last minute.

 

On another note, Kataeb Party expressed its optimism over Beirut's security plan which will be implemented soon, hoping that it would be fruitful.

 

"The party hopes that Greater Beirut's security plan would be fruitful as in Tripoli and northern Bekaa because this step proves that the state controls all Lebanese territories," the statement added.

 

Kataeb Party also tackled the crisis of Syrian refugees which highly affecting Lebanon negatively on all levels.
