Prime Minister Saad Hariri received Wednesday at the Grand Serail, the Deputy UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon and UNDP Resident Representative Philippe Lazzarini.
After the meeting, Lazzarini said: "I just met Prime Minister Hariri and it was an occasion for me to congratulate him for the cabinet formation and also to congratulate the Prime Minister for the inclusion of four women in the cabinet, including a woman as a Minister of Interior, which I believe is the first time in the Arab World.
I also reiterated to the Prime Minister the United Nations' readiness to support him and his government to implement all the commitments made last year during the Rome, Paris and Brussels conferences. And when it comes to the Paris conference, I reiterated also the importance given by the international community and the UN to the implementation of CEDRE and the importance of implementing reforms starting with the electricity sector."
Hariri also met with the Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon Nazih Naggari and the Consul General Jawad Sami.
After the meeting, Ambassador Naggari said: "I conveyed to the Prime Minister the congratulations of President Abdel Fattah Sisi and the Egyptian government on the formation of the new government after the great efforts exerted by Premier Hariri in the past nine months. I wished him, on behalf of the Egyptian government, success in achieving everything that would serve the interests of the Lebanese people in the framework of the national consensus that brings together all the political parties, and the framework of the desired balance to achieve Lebanon's interest and stability.
I also stressed the keenness of the Egyptian government to develop the partnership between our two countries just as Minister Sameh Shukri said during his recent visit to Lebanon, in light of the many fields of cooperation and mainly the economic field because we want to provide Lebanon with all the support in the next period so this government succeeds."
