Speaker of the House, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday met at the second presidential headquarters of Ain al-Teeneh with US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, Ambassador David Satterfield, accompanied by US Ambassador to Lebanon, Elizabeth Richard.
The meeting witnessed a comprehensive assessment of the overall situation vis-a-vis Lebanon's position from land and maritime border demarcation, with tangible progress being made in terms of kicking off the process of establishing Lebanese maritime borders and handling Lebanon's reservations along the Blue Line.
However, the role of the United Nations and freezing the implementation of what had been agreed upon until the end of the demarcation process by land and sea remains under discussion.
Separately, Berri received at noon French Defense Minister, Florence Parly, accompanied by French Ambassador to Lebanon, Bruno Foucher, and a delegation from the ministry, in presence of Dr. Mahmoud Berri.
