President Michel Aoun stressed that he will not let any Lebanese industry suffer without providing it with the necessary support, "out of my conviction in the need to uphold the productive sectors in order to transform Lebanon's economy from a rentier to a productive one, because this will strengthen the national economy and protect the Lebanese industry by reducing the volume of imports."
"Initial measures taken by the Council of Ministers to support and protect the national industry have yielded positive results," Aoun said, adding that "other measures will be taken in this regard."
President Aoun's remarks came during a meeting at the Baabda Palace with Minister of Industry Wael Abou Faour, accompanied by a delegation from the Industrialists' Association headed by Fadi Gemayel.
The President's guests briefed him on the current reality of the Lebanese industry and the measures aimed at protecting it and supporting the productive sectors.
Minister Abou Faour explained the results of the preliminary census conducted on job opportunities in the industrial sector, especially after the protection measures recently adopted.
