Minister of Social Affairs, Richard Kouyoumjian, patronized on Saturday the first exhibition of handicrafts and traditional industries in Lebanon, organized by Head of the Handicrafts and Traditional Industries Association, Bader Hassoun, in his eco-village in Koura.
After touring the various parts of the exhibition and listening to a welcoming word by its founder, Minister Kouyoumjian thanked Hassoun and his family for their warm reception in their eco-village. "The aroma of your products has filled the air, like the timeless scent of the Cedars...," he said.
Kouyoumjian praised the eco-village's founders and administrators for "gathering different poles in their village and portraying the excellence and authenticity of the Lebanese products that competes with foreign products."
"These products are a source of pride and honor for the people of Koura, Tripoli, the North and the whole world," he asserted.
Pointing to the state's failure to support the regions of the North, the Minister noted that "this does not prevent it from trying to provide assistance in this difficult period."
Kouyoumjian praised herein the initiative of those concerned with the eco-village in trying to overcome the various challenges, hoping that the government would accord more attention to the rural areas and provide immediate reforms in the economic, social and development fields in wake of the high level of poverty suffered by the region.
He also stressed his support to the North and all other areas, and hailed the initiative of the Bader Hassoun eco-village and everyone who participated in its craftsmanship.
At the end of the tour, honor shields and souvenirs were presented to Kouyoumjian as a token of appreciation for his visit and patronage of the fair.
