The "Mountain Guarantee” Bloc held an extraordinary meeting chaired by MP Talal Arslan in Khalde on Saturday. The meeting reportedly focused on the developments on the local arena.
After the meeting, Arslan considered that the current popular demonstrations largely fall under the spontaneous movements resulting from the country's critical economic and financial situation.
"We consider that people's demands and their stand against corruption and the corrupt are at the heart of our faith and our goals," Arslan said.
He also warned against "the exploitation of the movement by some forces known for their internal corruption and external affiliation."
Finally, the bloc stressed the need to lift constitutional, political and sectarian immunities, and to lift bank secrecy for anyone who managed public money or did a public service.
